Secrets Maroma Beach, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
We decided that since we are only going on our honeymoon for 5 days that we would rather take the 5 hour flight to Mexico instead of the 13 hour flight to St. Lucia, which is where we originally wanted to go. I selected about 5 places and put it up to my facebook friends to decide and this is the place they chose! (I was really glad they picked it because it was my first choice too!) We got the junior ocean-view suite. Little did I know that if I had waited 1 month to book (I booked at the end of April) I could have gotten a better deal because of all the swine flu crap! Argh! That's what I get for being impatient! :) We booked the room and our flights (on Mexicana Airlines) through Orbitz and got some $200 free resort credits and private airport transfers to/from the resort. I don't reccommend Orbitz though, as they somehow always change my flight intineraries without asking me first (we originally had direct flights from LAX to CUN but now we have to fly through Mexico City on our way there... bummer.) Regardless we are so excited to lay out in the sun, relax and eat/drink until our hearts are content! It will be a much needed vacation from reality.
